How difficult can it be for a child to get justice when he is the only support for his mother and sister at an age when he should be playing with toys? Umar was sent to jail on the basis of false accusations and his case was not being heard in court. At such time, Advocate Hammad Ahmed took up his case and got him honourably acquitted. He also took responsibility for Umar’s education and the monthly expenses of his family. While others looked at Umar with doubt, Hammad chose to help him rebuild his life.

Hammad Ahmed belongs to Karachi and completed his LLB from University of London. During their college days, Hammad Ahmed and his friends wanted to do something for their country and its people. With this aim, they worked on initiatives like the Iftar drive and beach cleanup drives.

With a strong desire to help others, Hammad and his friends founded Revival of Change Welfare Association in 2018. The organisation works to bring positive change to society, particularly among young people.

Hammad saw that getting justice was becoming difficult for people who could not afford a lawyer. Without legal help, many people struggle to have their cases heard in the court. To help such people, he launched Project Insaaf under Revival of Change Welfare Association.

During its first phase, Project Insaaf focused on providing legal assistance to children whose cases could not proceed because they did not have a lawyer. However, the project was not limited to securing their release. It also focused on helping them rebuild their lives. Hammad believes that justice does not end with acquittal. True success lies in helping people rebuild their lives, become independent, and regain their place in society with dignity.

Through Project Insaaf, Hammad and his team provided free legal assistance in more than 80 juvenile cases, over 20 domestic violence cases, and more than 50 khula cases, helping people who might otherwise struggle to access justice.

His journey started with a few friends and the support of two lawyers and today 50+ Pro Bono Advocates are working together as a team.

Hammad has also launched an initiative to help young lawyers gain practical experience. Under the guidance of senior advocates, they learn how to handle legal cases while becoming a voice for children who have suffered injustice. This gives young lawyers an opportunity to develop their careers while helping vulnerable children receive justice they deserve.

Hammad’s purpose in life is to bring positive change to society and become a ray of hope for young people who have grown discouraged by the situations and events they see and hear about every day. Through his work, he hopes to show them that they can make a difference rather than lose hope in the face of challenges.

His mission is not limited to Karachi or Sindh. Hammad plans to expand the Revival of Change Welfare Association to other provinces and regions of Pakistan in coming years, allowing more people to benefit from his work.

In recognition of his efforts for the country, Hammad Ahmed received the SDGs Excellence Award from the Governor of Sindh.

Hammad Ahmad’s Message to the Youth:

Hammad believes success comes through hard work, dedication and consistency, regardless of the field a person chooses. He encourages young people not to lose hope when faced with setbacks or negativity, reminding them that meaningful change takes time. He urges them to take the first step, stay positive, and remember that even small efforts can lead to significant change.

“Giving up should always be the last option.”
